MMAGangster’s UFC 241: Cormier vs. Miocic 2 Best Picks

UFC 241: Cormier vs. Miocic 2 takes place at the Honda Center in Anaheim, California, United States.

Here are my picks:

Manny Bermudez wins via Submission (+140) x1
Manny Bermudez vs. Casey Kenney – Preliminary Card (ESPN)

Simply put, I think this is the most likely outcome to this 140-pound “Catchweight” contest. Bermudez currently has one of the best submission games in the UFC’s bantamweight division and I expect this fight to hit the mat, where I am sure he will have a great chance of pulling off the submission victory.

Ian Heinisch wins in round 3 (+1000) x0.5
Derek Brunson vs. Ian Heinisch – Main Card (PPV)

Heinisch has been improving rapidly since coming to the UFC, and I favor him to win this bout. Brunson certainly has the better wrestling of the two, but I think Heinisch’s toughness and superior cardio will make the difference. Brunson will come out strong, as he usually does, but I like Heinisch’s chances of surviving the early onslaught and eventually finishing Brunson after the former college wrestler runs out of gas. At +1000 I have to take a shot at this prop.

Gabriel Benitez (+240) x1
Gabriel Benítez vs. Sodiq Yusuff – Main Card (PPV)

I don’t agree with the offering odds for this 145-pound contest, as I think the matchup is a lot closer than that suggests. At the current price, I think the value is with the underdog Benitez at +240. Yusuff may have the edge in boxing and power, but Benitez will hold the advantages in grappling. I could see the Mexican finding success with his grappling, and potentially submitting Yusuff. However, more of than not I expect a close fight that could go either way, and at +240 I have to take a shot at the underdog.
