Carlos Condit vs. Neil Magny
After a 16-month ‘sabbatical’ from the sport Carlos Condit finds his way back to the eight sided cage that has housed so many of his unforgettable highlights. ‘The Natural Born Killer’ has truly ascended to Legendary status amongst the MMA fan base with jaw dropping performances and finishes that permanently etch themselves into our minds. The problem with reaching Legendary status is that it starts to muddy the waters of fact versus fiction into the fighter that will actually be seen inside the octagon this Saturday.
In many fighters careers you can mark their absolute peak to a single that fight that marks them at the apex of their abilities and know how. It’s that fight when the fighters overall athleticism may not be at its height but is a synergistic relationship with their experience, fight IQ and conditioning. For Carlos Condit this State of Being was reached in the Robbie Lawler fight which many (myself included) thought he won. One down side about reaching such a state is typically there is only one direction to go after and that’s down. Pre Lawler fight Carlos Condit would have likely beat Neil Magny soundly out landing him and ultimately finding a way to put out the TUF Alum but this is not that Condit. This Carlos Condit gets badly rocked by Damien Maia and has numerous outside interests splitting his focus away from MMA.
Neil Magny is a perennial top 15 Welterweight that will be a tough out for anyone in the division and has very clear weaknesses. A powerful grappler or Heavy Handed striker will beat Neil Magny 9/10 or at bare minimum get him to the brink of defeat. Carlos Condit is neither of these things and in my opinion will likely find himself taken down at least once by the ever technically improving Magny. Cardio advantage falls to Magny as well who maintains his volume throughout the contest piling up shots on his opponent.
One fighter is on the razors edge of retirement contemplating his life after fighting while the other Lives for the fight directing his entire life towards the singular goal of getting better.
Prediction: Neil Magny RD 3 TKO
Bet: Neil Magny +145
